10:00 am

Well, the plane did NOT fall from the sky! I am now breathing much easier now that we are in Las Vegas. The airport is not too crowded and we were able to find our bags quickly so that my husband can get outside to smoke a cigarette. As he smokes on the sidewalk of the terminal, we locate a shuttle station and make arrangements for a ride to our hotel. We were able to purchase two-way tickets so we will not have to worry about making arrangements when it is time to go home, a quick call will be all that is necessary. After my husband is feeling better, with the proper amount of nicotine in his system, we board the shuttle a wait until time to go. Ten minutes later we arrive at the Las Vegas Hilton, it is too early to check in, but we check our bags so that we can begin our adventure!

11:00 am

As we made our first jaunt onto the strip, we quickly realized we had made another mistake!! With my husband wearing his colts cap, and me making eye contact with the people we pass, we are quickly recognized as the “newly arrived tourists” that we are, and are bombarded by salesmen trying to rope us into signing up to tour new hotels for a chance at discount tickets to shows. It doesn’t take us long to recognize them and steer clear! We only have a week; we don’t want to waste time with salesmen!

The strip isn’t too crowded on a Wednesday morning, so we are able to make good time and are quickly in the thick of it and touring hotel lobbies! It is 104 degrees here and I feel like I am in heaven! I am almost always cold, so for the first time I feel truly warm without being dressed like an Eskimo out on a fishing trip! My husband isn’t quite as thrilled with the heat, but as it isn’t humid he isn’t complaining too loudly! What a sight, for a Midwest girl!! Thank goodness I have a camera with me, as I want to show every one I know how decadent Vegas » Read more: Anniversary Vacation Las Vegas – Hilton Check in etc…

Nevada, Vacation Reviews, Weekend Getaway Ideas

Since I decided to create Vacation Idea Guides after my wife and I came back from our anniversary vacation to Las Vegas, I thought it only fitting to share an account of our experiences during our 6 days in Las Vegas.  Like many couples were we looking or a place to go and celebrate our anniversary and since neither one of use had been there before and the opportunity presented itself we set out researching vacation and travel information that was available on the internet.    I must admit my wife did most of the digging through travel reviews on tripwire, expedia, the travel channel and several other vacation guides.  I had orignially planned on telling our story on another site called romantic las vegas vacations, where I discussed the initial headaches, hassels and usefulness of the travel reviews we found online.  After realizing how many people actually read our personal experiences planning our anniversary vacation we decdied this blog would be a better option.

Any way back to the topic at hand, our trip to las vegas.  I’ll be doing a day by day recap of all our vacation experiences, with the help of my wife,  over the next several posts. Here is my wife’s initial recap of the first day starting with arriving in Indianapolis for our flight to Las Vegas:  » Read more: Anniversary Trip Las Vegas – Flight From Indy To Vegas
