The Big Island of Hawaii is full of amazing sights to see and activities to do.  If you are an active traveler,  there are plenty of must-see sights that will leave you hanging to explore more of the ever-changing island.  The green sands beach is in a location so remote that only the determined make the trip.  A monument dedicated to a British explorer hides behind tall cliffs, with waters abundant with ocean life.   Enormous harmless manta rays swim right up to you and kiss your face.  When planning your trip, consider the following recommendations; you won’t be disappointed.

Travel down to the south tip of the island, and gain bragging rights to having stepped foot on the southern most point of the United States.  A road a short drive away leads to a gravel parking lot just off the ocean.  Pack light food and water, and don’t forget protection from the unforgiving sun.  A 2 ½ mile hike along a well worn path will lead you to the most unique and remote green sand beach,  sheltered by a giant wall of a cliff.  You can climb right down to the tiny beach, and enjoy the emerald sand and the feeling of being far away from the real world.

Near the southwest coast of the island lies Kealakekua Bay.  Kayaks can be rented about a mile south from the monument of Captain Cook.  Pack lunch and snorkel gear and head out.  Along the way, head closer to the rocks and hop in the water.  The ocean comes to life with fish of all colors, and the friendliest swimmer, the spinner dolphin.  Float and observe a life completely different from your own. » Read more: The big, beautiful island of Hawaii

Egypt is perhaps the most amazing place on the Earth as far as ancient archeological sites are concerned. Nowhere else can such a concentration of relatively well-preserved structures can be found. For this, the country is receiving each year millions of tourists which make up for over 20% of its GDP. There are many other interesting things in Egypt besides the ancient monuments: the beaches and coral reefs, the desert and its mountains, the bustling city life and culture of Cairo and Alexandria – but for most people, Egypt is still about the temples and tombs first.

Going alongside the Nile, one will encounter most of these temples and tombs. In the region of Cairo, the number one attraction and the most iconic monuments of all Egypt can be found: the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. Also not to be missed in the city is the great Egyptian Museum which houses an incredible number of statues and artifacts from the Pharaonic period. Just south of the metropolis one can also visit the scarce remains of the capital of the old Kingdom, Memphis. Nearby are the other pyramids, that is the earliest ones built in Egypt which can be found in Saqqara.

Moving further south, between Cairo and Luxor, one will encounter the barely remaining city of controversial Pharaoh Akhenaten in Al-Amarna. More interestingly, as one continues along, the temple of Abydos is perhaps the most beautiful of all Egypt. One can get off the train at Al Balyana to take a cab to Abydos. The next major point of interest is the Temple of Hathor in Dendera. Dating from the Greek period, it features impressive columns and is entirely dedicated to the feminine aspect.

Luxor is next and the concentration of temples and tombs here is unequaled. Dubbed as the biggest open-air museum in the world, one can appreciate the temples of Luxor, Karnak and the Luxor museum inside the city itself. Moving to the other side of the Nile, on the West bank, the visitor will find the famed Valley of the Kings, the Valley of the Queens and loads of other tombs from the Ancient Egyptian nobility » Read more: Visiting the Temples and Tombs of Ancient Egypt between Cairo and Luxor
